Rosewood and Ormolu Lyre Clock with Mystery Pendulum ~ French - Circa 1850 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ An early and stunning clock by Henri Marc of Paris. It is beautifully made in rosewood veneer with delicate marquetry inlay and crisp ormolu mounts. It features an inverted mystery pendulum, gently swinging above the movement behind the strings of the lyre.

Marquetry is of stylised foliage and heraldic motifs and the ormolu is finely modelled with acanthus. The dial is silvered bronze with fine engine turning and is engraved with roman numerals and the Henri Marc signature. It is complete with original finely cut and blued steel hands.

The French movement is by Henri Marc and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Ormolu pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the veneer is in very good condition with some slight marks and a small loss to the rear. Ormolu is clean and bright. Dial is in excellent condition.
